Slovenia - Julian Alps - Mountain Bike Holiday

Much talked about, Slovenia is emerging, as one of Europe’s must ride mountain bike areas, with our trip here exploring the blissful trails of it’s dramatic Julian Alps.

Amongst the highest peaks, in the heart of the Tirglav National Park lies perhaps the most beautiful alpine valley in Europe – the Soca Valley, which will serve as our base for the week.

Our riding explores the hidden trails of the area, to take us through the colourful alpine villages and remote shepherd settlements of the higher reaches of these mighty mountains.

The routes are a combination of sweet singletrack, daring mulatieras (mountainside military ‘roads’) that cling to the mountainsides, forest tracks and windy mountain roads. During your riding, be prepared for breathtaking views of the Soca Valley below, the ever dramatic backdrop of the Dolomites, and the Adriatic Sea to the west completing an impressive picture.

We finish our biking with a classic ride which begins in Kobarid at the foothills of the Alps and ends amongst the lush green vineyards of Goriska Brda, where a delicious meal in the castle of Brda is our just reward.

With flights arriving and departing from the capital of Ljubljana, for those who wish to extend their stay in Slovenia and spend time in this lovely city, this can easily be arranged.
