This mountain bike holday in Portugal is the hardest challenge one can do on a Mountain Bike in Portugal.

We looked for the steepest climbs and the highest trails on the biggest mountains of central Portugal...and found them!!

This of course means the tour is a huge challenge and only the fittest riders who are well trained for long distance rides and those that enjoy overcoming tests to their endurance should sign up for this holiday.

We mainly ride along mountains ridges, always surrounded by stunning views both to the northwest and to the southeast, linking landmarks, windmills and antennas which are a constant throughout the holiday.

The route has been designed to seek the isolation of the highlands, where the only regular visitors are herds and flocks of livestock. It also crosses the Portugal of never-ending eucalyptus forestsand the Portugal of cold stone villages where warm and simple people still live, side by side with the jungle of mobile phone antennas.

The Travessia follows many pleasant forest tracks but also well surfaced tracks that run below the now very popular wind farms.
