A great mid-level mountain biking holiday through one of Portugal's least visited regions. We begin our biking in Monfortinho, the tour taking us from the rocky wilderness of the north to the plains of the south, meandering along the border with Spain. In a land of wild boar and deer we pass through medieval and Roman villages including the stunning Monsanto.

Following compacted trails, old Roman tracks and technical rocky singletrack, our route take us to the Idanha dam and immense eucalyptus forests. With time for a swim in the Rio Ponsul, we pass small lagoons crowded with wild birds to reach the province of Alentejo. 

Descending from Marvão, we make our way south to the mountains of Serra S. Mamede, and after a hard climb the rewards are outstanding views of the plains of the south. The route flattens to our final destination, Campo Maior the capital of coffee in Portugal.

Most meals are included on this holiday with superb local food and wine there for you to enjoy in the typical unhurried and relaxed atmosphere of a Skedaddle trip.
