Iceland - Earth, Fire and Ice - Mountain Bike Holiday

An action packed cycling holiday to Iceland. With an abundance of hot springs, active volcanoes, glaciers, geysers, lava deserts, crashing waterfalls and snowcapped peaks, Iceland is like no other place on earth.

Following arrival and an evening in Iceland's capital Reykjavik, your cycling adventure begins next morning. Our first highlight is at Þingvellir, where the European and North American plates meet and you’ll see the earth literally splitting apart. As the week progresses we continue deeper into the countryside taking a beautiful biking route over the Lyngdalsheiði heath.see the world-famous geothermal area of Geysir and, if you’re lucky, witness boiling water soaring up to 50 metres above the ground.

A few cycling miles further and we drop by the magnificent Gullfoss, one of Icelands most impressive natural sites. After taking time to really appreciate these incredible natural wonders we transfer by minibus to our hotel on the edge of the Icelandic Highlands, where we spend the night before moving on deep into the wilderness.

Following a day of biking or hiking around Landmannalaugar, we head to Eldgjá canyon for a lovely route along Fjallabak nyðra before arriving at Holaskjol. On our final day’s biking, we continue along the ‘mountain back’‚ before transferring to Reykjavik for a final night of celebration in what is rightly described as one of Scandinavia’s liveliest cities.
